Hello! Welcome to my website.  I’m Jackie Martin, author of Burglar Boy and formerly a cartoon illustrator.  I’ve also had many years’ experience working with children as an entertainer, teaching assistant and private tutor.

I grew up in Langley, near Slough, but for the last few years I’ve lived in Beaconsfield with my husband and grown-up daughter and German shepherd dog, which recently passed away.

 

I’ve always been passionate about enhancing the learning experiences of young people and raising their self-esteem.  So, now that I don’t have a lovely old dog to look after any more, I’m looking forward to qualifying as a primary school teacher in 2012.

My stories are inspired by real-life characters, childhood memories and case studies from my psychology degree.  I am intrigued by the coincidences that link people together and believe in the far-reaching consequences of altruism and kindness to animals.
